As the founder of Formatic, I am also a practicing dentist. Day in and day out, I witnessed a massive productivity bottleneck that had nothing to do with marketing projects or UX design—it was the burden of clinical documentation. Dentists in the UK can spend hours every day writing detailed, compliant notes, often after the last patient has gone home.
It was a classic productivity problem, just in a different setting. The process was inefficient, time-consuming, and ripe for a modern solution.
Applying the 'Formatic' Philosophy to Dentistry
We took the lessons we learned from building Formatic—about structured data, efficient workflows, and automation—and decided to tackle this niche problem head-on. The result is a new venture I'm incredibly proud of.
This journey led us to found [Dentistry Dashboard], a company focused entirely on solving the unique administrative challenges faced by clinicians. Our flagship product is an [AI-powered dental note software] called Dentistry Dashboard Notes. It uses speech recognition and AI to automatically generate perfect, GDC-compliant clinical notes from a natural conversation with a patient.
It’s the ultimate expression of the Formatic philosophy: taking a complex, manual process and making it simple, fast, and automated.
